All Over the Place

Hi guys!

Okay, this blog is still a little rough-going. I’m in between apartments at the moment… which, in case there’s any confusion in that, is not an easy place to be. So posting might be sporadic, just so you know.

Best news is The Mr. has one job already—part time, but we’ll take what we can get. In the meanwhile, I’m still posting at The Hollow Tree and the Dojo.

Make sure to check out my most recent posts – I wrote a very well-received (to my delight!) explanation of Voice over at the Dojo with the Blue Bike Experiment, and on Tales From the Hollow Tree, my latest story went up today called The Frozen Castle, with a retelling of one of my all-time favorite fairy tales. See how long it takes you to figure out which one it is!

In other news, I’m plugging along working on Daughter. I’ve successfully pieced together a lot of it, but there is still an awful lot to go. I’m excited to see it starting to come together, though! This book really is my baby, and I’m glad I’ve made the commitment to finally get it done.

** Why the jellyfish? Because that’s how I’ve been feeling of late. Floating through life in a sporadic way, being rushed along by the tides. Hopefully I’ll be settling into a more familiar skin soon!

What’s With all the Crickets?

*chirp* *chirp*

It’s been very, very quiet around here. I have a few explanations.

You see, firstly, there was NaNo. I did very well the first few days of NaNo, too… and then I found out that an opportunity had opened up, and my husband and I are going to be moving to Texas. By the end of the month. So, between Thanksgiving and packing/planning… a lot has fallen off the wagon. Including NaNo. And this blog.

So. I’m going to try to be on here more often. At least once a week until the end of the year, then back up to fulltime, okay?

Meanwhile, look forward to our giveaway on Tales From the Hollow Tree as we release our first collection of stories.

Have you seen our cover? Isn’t it pretty?

On Vacation…

Sorry for the lack of posts lately, the worry over my hands has forced me from the computer a little bit, and now I’m headed out of town for a week or so on business. I don’t know whether I’ll be able to post whilst I’m gone, so I’m putting this up just in case. I will come back ready and raring to get back on schedule, though, trust in that!

Meanwhile, I do have a story set to go up on Tales From the Hollow Tree tomorrow, so don’t forget to check that out!

Looking Ahead to 2011

There are four days left of 2010, and I find that I’ll be missing the year a little. This year has been such a significant one for me, and next year is still wide open with possibilities, and a whole world of things that I can only half begin to imagine. Change is good, though. Change hopefully means improvement.

Actually, I’ve already started some big changes… I’ve finally gotten serious about branding my name on the internet as a writer, for example, thus this new blog which I have to say I like the design of very much.

This year is a new start for Tales From the Hollow Tree, as well.  Isabelle Santiago and I realized we were doing ourselves a disservice by using it mainly as a review blog—we want to highlight our own writing much more than we have been doing, so we’re taking a page from the Merry Sisters of Fate blog and we’re going to be doing an experiment in flash fiction, providing four short stories a month—two from each of us.  We’re hoping it will teach us a lot about writing and get us out of our comfort zones a bit.

As far as life goes, Christmas was a wonderful event.  My very first spent with my husband, and a deliciously sweet little thing.  I didn’t get out any Christmas cards this year, sadly, but I have a serious resolve to do things better next year.  Then again, isn’t that true for almost everyone, every year?

Still, goals for 2011:

1) Finish Jethro, Edit and Query.

2) Iron out the plot and hopefully finish Secret Project.

3) Write two short stories per month on Tales From the Hollow Tree.

4) Blog, blog, blog.

What are you going to be working on next year?
